Bill Bateman, Lead Guitar, Vocals

Bill has been playing guitar since he was 10 years old and has a wide variety of influences from all genres of music. I never wanted to be labeled as one style of guitarist and enjoy playing multiple guitar techniques during our performances from country chicken pickin, classic rock, blues, funk and acoustic riffs.

My early influences growing up were Elvis, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. Later I expanded to classic rock bands including Boston, Van Halen, Journey, and ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughn to name a few.

Bill enjoys writing music and recently teamed up with David to publish their first original song which received positive reviews. All members of the Retro Soundbox Band have written songs and look forward to putting the artistic talents of the group together to create an original CD. Bill says, "I believe with our many years of experience and diversified musical background, we could create a CD that almost anyone could enjoy."

"I view playing live music as a privilege and never take it for granted! The best part of being with Retro Soundbox is all of us are good friends and having that chemistry makes performing a load of fun! In my opinion there is no better feeling when the band is tight, and people are up burning up the dance floor! I am excited about the next few years to see what the musical talents of Retro Soundbox can accomplish!"

When not playing guitar, Bill enjoys tournament Bass Fishing, Golf, and collecting music memorabilia. Bill is known in the collector’s world and has an extensive collection of Elvis Presley artifacts including Elvis personally owned and worn sunglasses, stage worn rings, gold rotary telephone used upstairs at Graceland, concert scarves and several Elvis Presley autographs. It’s a privilege to own artifacts from the greatest performer of all-time!!
